• Bogdan Stanoiev wins Iasi and becomes Vice champion of the Dacia JOE Cup • The winner of the 2007 edition of the Cup, Cristina Turbatu, claims the "Performance" Trophy • Outstanding performance of new comers The Tester Rally in Iasi was the scene of some really interesting duels throughout the 15 races, with new comers Costica Raileanu and Adrian Dragan as pretenders to the podium. The last stage of the 2007 season would settle the winner of the "vice" title between Bogdan Stanoiev and Ernest Mulner. Their confrontation ended during the sixth race, when Ernest Mulner’s car skidded off the road and overturned. Still, the pilot from Brasov found solace in winning the third position on the final podium of the 2007 Dacia JOE Cup. Young Bogdan Stanoiev proved once again at ease on macadam and led the race. The pilot from Timisoara took the lead right from the first special and managed to win nine specials and a third victory in the Cup. Now a Vice champion, Stanoiev boasts the first place both in the Michelin "Hopes" Standings and in the Beginners’ standings. Despite missing the stages held in Brasov and Cluj for budget reasons, Cristian Turbatu answered the roll call of this last act. Already the winner of the Dacia JOE Cup after the seventh stage, the one in Sibiu, Turbatu proved that his success was not the outcome of chance. The pilot from Pitesti came second in the Rally Tester from Iasi and won the "Performance" Trophy; the latter is won by the pilot with the highest score, without deducting the 3 poorest results, according to the regulation of the Dacia Cup. Costica Raileanu was the revelation of this last stage; the circuit pilot from Tulcea adapted quickly to the macadam surface and finished the Rally on the last place of the podium, after winning one special. As he is only 23, the pilot was eligible for the Michelin "Hopes" Trophy, where he came second. As for the second new comer to the Cup, the chief editor of "Auto Motor si Sport", Adrian Dragan, got quickly used to the Logan model and managed to be the fastest pilot on two specials. Eventually, the journalist pilot had to settle with the 4th position, which is nevertheless worth mentioning, given his lack of experience in driving the Logan. Alina Bunica made progress on a surface that was initially new to her; she finally came 5th at the end of the season. Alina can also take pride in the two "vice" titles in the Michelin "Hopes" standings and the Beginners’ standings of the Dacia JOE Cup. Drawing the line at the end of the season, the first edition of the Dacia JOE Cup proved a real success at all levels. In terms of figures, the competition brought 13 participants to the start line, a record for the first edition of a mono brand competition, alongside 15 race cars. The significant number of competitors proved the mono brand Cup recipe to be successful, within a limited attendance budget. The competitors equally benefited from the money prizes the received for each stage, as well as the 10,000-euro Grand Prix awarded to the winner. At the end of 10 stages – half on asphalt, half on macadam – the 1.6 MPi Dacia Logan proved its robustness and its reliability, with only 3 cars having to abandon the competition for technical reasons and with extremely low maintenance costs. Last, but not least, it is worth mentioning that the 2007 edition of the Cup hosted a series of VIPs, starts and journalists, who all tried to promote this highly complex and interesting discipline. Given the success of the first edition, the 2008 edition should attract more participants, especially beginners, for whom the Dacia Cup proved a genuine professional springboard.
