By launching an affordable off-road vehicle with low CO2 emissions, Dacia again challenges the norm.

Dacia’s mission is to offer quality vehicles to all. Across every segment – from family saloon, hatchback and estate, to compact van, pick-up and now 4x4 – Dacia provides tough, reliable vehicles that are unbeatable in terms of the performance/equipment package they deliver for their price.

With a range of six models launched in just six years, Dacia is a rapidly expanding global automotive brand.

2009 was the fifth consecutive year of double-digit growth in Dacia sales: it has expanded its sales from fewer than 100,000 vehicles in 2004 to more than 300,000 units in 2009.

309,457 Dacia vehicles were produced around the world in 2009, an increase of 20 per cent compared with 2008. (257,808 units were delivered in 2008).

Since Logan's launch in 2004, Dacia has notched up total global sales of 1,140,031 units.

Romania: Dacia enjoyed a market share of 28.9 per cent in Romania in 2009, an increase of 1.5 percentage points over 2008.

Maghreb nations: in Morocco and Algeria, the brand has expanded dramatically. Moroccan sales are 41.2 per cent up at 15,500 units, against a market decline of 3.2 per cent, while Algeria is up 21.3 per cent to 14,800 units, with the overall market dropping by 8.5 per cent.

In Europe (region as defined by Renault): Dacia has recorded a 91 per cent increase, to 214,500 units (1.3 per cent market penetration).

            - Principal markets in 2009: Germany emerged as the brand's biggest export market, with 84,875 units sold. Second position was taken by France, with 66,531 sales, followed by Italy, with sales of 21,754 vehicles.

            - In 2009, Dacia took 2.13 per cent of the German market, 2.5 per cent of the French market and 0.93 per cent of the Italian market. In France, Dacia is now one of the country's ten best-selling automotive brands.

The increase in Dacia sales and the expansion of its range have been accompanied by a growth in the number of Dacia showrooms on separate sites to Renault dealerships, but which still enjoy the support of the Renault network. These separate Dacia sites employ more sales staff and provide greater space to display vehicles, and there are already 59 such outlets in France, 20 in Germany and 10 in Belgium.

   Country  Sales
 1  Germany  84,875
 2  France  66,531
 3  Romania  41,862
 4  Italy  21,754

Acclaimed fundamentals

The reliability of Dacia vehicles is assured by the vehicle and powertrain engineering expertise of the Renault group – and is backed by a three-year or 100,000km warranty. Recent independent surveys back this up: in a study of 26,000 motorists published in the French consumer affairs magazine UFC Que Choisir, Dacia was named third most reliable brand in Europe, while Auto Plus proclaimed it the most reliable make in France
