Dacia Logan Pick-Up now joins the Logan family, already boasting a sedan, a station wagon and a utility vehicle. A product of the plant in Mioveni, Logan Pick-Up was conceived to meet the demands of a broad segment of customers, from small entrepreneurs and tradesmen to those in search of a leisure vehicle. Logan Pick-Up holds all the trumps featured on the Logan range. It runs both on diesel and petrol, following the Renault powertrain range, while keeping Logan MCV.s driving station. A robust and modern vehicle, Logan Pick-Up stands out through its practical profile, a key feature of the Logan family. Dacia Logan Pick-Up.s cargo area is 1.80 m long and its payload amounts to 800 kg. Additionally, the cabin holds a 300-litre loading space, placed behind the seats.
Dacia Logan Pick-Up will come at an unequalled price/ performance ratio and will be available on the Romanian market starting 2008.

1. Logan range specific features

A key element: robustness

Logan Pick-Up carries on the features that have contributed the success of the entire Logan family. Its designers kept the robustness and the simplicity found in the other Logan versions. The materials used inside the car . the dashboard, the door panels, the upholstery . have been chosen for their solidity and durability, an essential parameter for any utility vehicle, as is the case of Logan Pick-Up. For a better protection against corrosion, the door panels and the roof are made of galvanised sheet metal. Depending on the version, the Logan Pick-Up comes with protection strips at door level. The 800-kg cargo area is one of the strong points of the model. The plastic ornament, able to take up to 100 kg of charge, protects the upper edge of the cargo area. The opening panel.s 400-kg payload is comparable to that of bigger pick-ups. The floor of the cargo area, its side rails and the dividing wall of the cabin are made of corrosion-proof steel sheets. Two specific evacuation pipes prevent rain water to remain inside the cargo area.

Logan Pick-Up carries on the same level of active and passive safety as on Logan MCV. It is worth reminding that the Logan platform (B0) is derived form the one used by the Renault Nissan Alliance on Modus, Clio II, Clio III and Nissan Micra. Its front suspension is of pseudo Mac Pherson type layout, complete with wishbone and non-filtered frame. The rear suspension is reinforced and employs the same programmed deflection H-section torsion beam concept, as that used for the other vehicles built on the same platform. All this renders Logan Pick-Up a safe and balanced vehicle on all types of roads. The brake system includes front brake discs and rear drums. The ABS versions are equipped with state-of-the-art 8.0 Bosch system, including an EBV electronic brake distribution, also available on Mégane II.

In terms of passive safety, Logan Pick-Up comes with front driver and passenger airbags, depending on the version.
The occupant restraint system comprises three-point seatbelts. Logan Pick-Up also benefits from Renault's acknowledged engineering expertise in the field of impact resistance and absorption of kinetic energy.
In case of front impact, the layout of the engine compartment permits the stacking up of mechanical components. Inside the car, the high energy-absorbing properties of the polypropylene honeycomb structure dashboard reduce the chances of knee injury in a collision.

Modern powertrain range

Logan Pick-Up boasts a 1.6 l petrol engine and a 1.5 dCi diesel engine that deliver 50Kw (70 HP) and 63 Kw (85 HP), respectively, both taken from the Renault powertrain range.
The 1.6 l petrol engine delivers a maximum power output of 64 Kw (90 HP) at 5,5oo rot/ min, which make him a perfectly robust and easy to maintain engine, two imperatives of commercial vehicles. Moreover, this engine has a powerful low-end torque.
A hallmark of diesel motoring, the 1.5 dCi engine relies on leading edge technology. It comes with a second generation direct injection common rail system that favours comfort, smoothness and a low consumption level. The long gear ratios now allow for a better use of the 1.5 dCi engine. It provides it with dynamic pull-away and acceleration even when the vehicle is laden. Given these features, the 1.5 dCi powertrain are perfectly adapted to the operating mode of the Logan Pick-Up. In addition, the consumption and the CO2 emission levels are significantly low. Consequently, Logan 1.5 dCi 85HP Pick-Up only needs 5.2 l/ 100 km in combined cycle, whereas the level of CO2 emissions does not go over 137 g/ km. Such values are extremely low for a high payload vehicle like Logan Pick-Up, and directly contribute to complying with the 2009 Renault Commitment.s objectives to sell, by 2009, a million vehicles with the CO2 emission level inferior to 140g/ Km.

2. A practical and comfortable pick-up

Clever space layout of the cabin

The cabin of the Logan Pick-Up is practical and comfortable for all its occupants. The passenger cell, derived from Logan MCV and Logan sedan, is spacious, as it can measure up to that of medium segment vehicles, whereas its comfort is worthy of a sedan. The front and rear visibility is very good; Logan Pick-Up.s storage space at the interior is quite generous.
Apart the glove compartment and the door storage space or the space at the bottom of the dashboard, the occupants also benefit from the accessible 300-l loading space behind the seats, by simply pulling down one of the seats.
On some versions, a protection frame placed outside the rear window prevents the load in the cargo area to accidentally penetrate the cabin. This safety device complies with European regulations applicable to commercial vehicles.

A pick-up with a difference

With more than 1.80 m of cargo length and 1.37 m of maximum cargo width, the Logan Pick-Up is comparable to big pick-up vehicles in terms of performance. When the rear opening panel is pulled down, the cargo space does not go over 64 cm, which renders the loading operations a lot more accessible. The step at the bottom of the opening panel provides fast and easy access to the interior of the cargo area, which comprises no less than 16 stowage points, allowing for a safe and solid storage of the cargo.
There are 4 stowage points on each upper side of the cargo area. Two other hooks are available on the protection frame of the rear window, completed by 6 stowage rings placed on the floor. Except the stowage hook on the protective frame, all the other stowage points come in standard version.
A wide range of accessories, adapted to the use of a pick-up vehicle, will be available on its launch, such as a spacing device meant for the cargo area, an exterior storage space, lateral protection panels of the cargo area, towing hook, parking sensor, storage box placed behind the seats, GPS, armrest, carpets and seat protection covers.

A significant commercial market

Logan Pick-Up addresses first and foremost, to traders and tradesmen in search of a simple and practical utility vehicle. On the other hand, the new comer in the Dacia range welcomes those who look for a vehicle to take them away at weekends and on holiday. Its versatility, its robustness and its attractive price will seduce a broad segment of customers.
The pick-up market has long been ignored by most European car makers. Only a few pick-up models are available on the market, such as Nissan Navara, whereas the small pick-up segment is hardly represented, unlike what the automakers from other continents can offer. Logan Pick-Up will undoubtedly fill this gap given its price/ performance ratio.
Logan Pick-Up will be fabricated at the plant in Mioveni. In 2008, the car will be marketed in Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Algeria. As of 2009, the model will be available on the other European markets.
