François Fourmont, CEO of Dacia, Constantin Stroe, Vice-President of the Board Council and Patrick Le Quement, former Renault Group Director of Industrial Design were also present at the press conference, as well as former employees who largely contributed to the development of the Mioveni production site, and professors of the Bucharest University of Polytechnic Studies.
Following the short presentation of the book by the author, the reputed journalist Dan Vardie, François Fourmont spoke about Renault’s beginnings with Dacia and its global success. “A lot has been written on Dacia”, reckons Fourmont, “but it is the first book on Dacia written by a Romanian, in Romanian, in Romania. Dacia is a success of the Romanian people.”
For Renault, the stake of the takeover was the Romanian carmaker’s capacity to make reliable, robust and affordable cars. The standards had to match the European quality standards used on production sites in France. Very soon, Dacia succeeded in establishing a quality standard later confirmed by international customer satisfaction tests. Currently, Dacia’s success has been acknowledged on Western European markets, and especially on the German market.
The event was followed by an autograph session from the author and his guests.
