The car park renewal programme should continue for another four or five years, given that the average age of the car park in Romania reaches 13 years, while the EU-15’s car park average age below 8 years, declares the APIA president Ernest Popovici.

“At this year’s OICA conference (The International Car Makers Association), most of the states where a Remat-type programme is available have declared their intention of continuing the programme for two to five years. Many of these states’ car parks are much younger than ours”, said the APIA official.

At the end of October, APIA officials estimated at 34,000 units the number of eligible cars until 11th December, from a target of 60,000 cars decided by the public authorities for the entire year.
