For a tire to guarantee a perfect grip, the rubber needs to be flexible; the rubber used on summer tires will progressively lose their flexibility when temperatures fall below 7°C. The rubber used on winter tire is more flexible, has better grip at low temeperatures and ensures good grip.
Treads cut water formed on a wet or frozen road surface. They also provide a better grip effect on snowy surfaces. - The winter tires and the summer tires can belong to different brands.
