Starting with 2000 and up to the present, at the level of the whole platform in Mioveni, there have been effected investments of 22 million euros to preserve the natural resources, to treat residual waters, soil, air and waste resulted from the manufacturing process.
In such way, 6,32 million euros have been invested in treating the residual water, 1,97 million euros in soil protection, 2,73 million euros treating the refuses, 6 million euros in treating the air, 4,67 million euros in preserving the natural resources.
By means of such activities, the impact of Dacia factories activities on the environment have been considerably reduced during the last 7 years (since the Dacia Logan launching):
- C0V emissions/vehicle: - 50,8%
- energy consumption/vehicle: - 74,1%
- CO2 evolution/vehicle: 77,42%
- dangerous refuses/vehicle:-46,6%
- water consumption/vehicle: - 87,41%
The revaluation rate of refuses has been increased during the last years on the platform, reaching 96,6% up to the present.
The CO2 emissions per vehicle have been reduced due to more modernization actions:
1. Modernization of the reservoirs at the Heating Station
2. Modernization of the furnaces for Aluminium Casting
3. Modernization of the gas blowpipes for Heat Treating and Dye House.
4. Thermal insulation of the buildings
5. Natural resources registration: gas, water, energy.
Dacia takes the necessary steps to reduce the gas with green house effect on the platform in Mioveni since 2001. The installation in Dacia factory are of top level in the European car industry.
The new reservoirs ensuring the manufacturing of the heat carrier, steam and warm water are the most modern and advanced at this moment all over the Western Europe. Provided with gas saver at burners, the reservoirs in the thermal station have a very reduced gas consumption, the efficiency reaching about 95% and the emissions from Burning Natural Gas are insignificant.
At the same time, Dacia implemented a top technology for residual waters conditioning, so that no drop of residual water shall be evacuated by burning.
All the new projects on the platform took into consideration the aspect of environment protection:
1. Extension of the Dyeing department II (varnish based on water)
2. Buffers varnishing
3. Water sources and networks against fire
4. New reservoirs and compressors
5. Renault Mécanique Roumanie Factory for gear boxes
6. Ultrafiltration station.
7. Chimney coolers
8. Connection and adjusting station for gas entrance measuring
The water administration is assured by “Water and Laboratories” Office. The water is taken over from the Targului River, it is made drinkable and stocked in distributing reservoirs. The treated water on the platform is used for: technological processes (cooling in loop circuits, producing warm water and steam), domestic needs of the platform and drinkable water distribution for Mioveni city. Dacia also ensures the drinkable water production and distribution to the Colibasi High School, in Colibasi village, Colibasi Penitentiary, Dacia Transports, Maintenance Construction Industrielle (MCI), ILN-RIR Centre. On the whole there are more than 30.000 persons.
To administrate the water, Dacia performed the following modernizations:
1. Diagnosis and rehabilitation of the sewerage systems
2. Equipments for automatic sampling
3. Rehabilitation of the clearing tanks and retention basins
4. Ultrafiltration installations
5. Oil catchers
6. 23 water recycling towers with loop circuits
7. Stations for industrial liquids
8. Dehydrator (Renault Mécanique Roumanie, Aluminium Casting)
9. Facilities modernization
10. Physicochemical station – Dye House
11. Station for water demineralization – inverse osmosis
The progress made in the field of reducing the water consumption was possible by means of:
1. loss reduction
2. personnel sensitization
3. water consumption counting
4. water network rehabilitation
Dacia demonstrates en ecological attitude with actions adequate for the present:
1. Accomplishment of spaces of “dojo” type meant to train employees for refuses separation and use of chemical products in manufacturing departments; in the factory, at present, there are 9 such “dojo” spaces.
